Witbaard (White Beard), the King of Kabouterland [Gnome country] arrests Joris, the cheese thief, a large mouse with a big nose, representing the Jews (predating Maus by 40 years). This is an allegorical tale of Jewish persecution, the tale ends with Joris in jail and being told it would be better if he left the land. Scarce, one copy listed in WorldCat.
