First edition. Novelization of the 1931 gangster film directed by William Wellman with James Cagney, Jean Harlow, Ed Woods and Joan Blondell. Glasmon and Bright were originally Chicago newspaper reporters, several other stories of theirs were filmed. Bright worked as a Hollywood screenwriter and was one of 10 founders of the Screen Writers Guild. He was blacklisted in the 1950s. Hubin, p. 330.
