The author's first book, first published in 1906. Collects ten stories. In 1927, when Derleth received this book, he was in the midst of an intensive study of recent supernatural fiction, a study which culminated in his bachelor's thesis for the University of Wisconsin, and which laid the foundation for his founding of Arkham House.
