10 [TEN] STORY FANTASY.

New York: Avon Periodicals, Inc., 1951. Octavo, single issue, cover by Joseph Meyers pictorial wrappers. Pulp magazine. Stories by John Benyon [Harris], Franklin Gregory, L. Sprague De Camp, A. E. Van Vogt, C. M. Kornbluth, Martin Pearson (a Wollheim pseudonym), and others. The most notable story published here is Arthur C. Clarke's "Sentinel of Eternity" (reprinted as "The Sentinel"), which is the basis for the film and novel 2001: A Space Odyssey. Unfortunately this fine magazine appeared at the end of the pulp era and, despite it's high quality content and a more than capable editor, the magazine ceased publication following it's debut issue due to poor distribution. Tymn and Ashley (eds), Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Weird Fiction Magazines, pp. 654-59. Edge wear with chips and tiny tears, creasing, a good copy. (23907). Item #23907
