Billed on the front covers "A selection of the best True Crime stories, new and old." Authors include Eleazar Lipsky, Craig Rice, Lillian de la Torre, Stuart Palmer, James Thurber and others. Published by Lawrence Spivak's Mercury Publications, these two issues are perhaps the only two published (this cataloger is unsure).

HOUDINI'S SPIRIT EXPOSÉS and DUNNINGER'S PSYCHICAL INVESTIGATIONS.
New York: Experimenter Publishing Company, Inc., 1928. Large octavo, single issue, pictorial wrappers. Large magazine format. First and only issue. 112 page magazine consisting of Part 1, (pp. 12-59) "Houdini's Spirit Exposés: Culled from his own manuscripts. Describing his investigations in a tireless search for genuine spirit manifestations and detailing his experiences in unearthing frauds." And Part 2, (pp. 60-107) "Dunninger's Psychical Investigations: The experiences of the author while investigating mediums in his official capacity as Chairman of the Science and Invention Magazine Committee for Psychical Research." Dunninger was a famous magician and mentalist, whose contemporaries included Harry Houdini and Blackstone. Dunninger also wrote a column for Gernsback's Science and Invention magazine. A strong debunker of spiritulalists and mediums he and the publisher's had a standing offer of $10,000.00 ($170,000 in money today) for any medium/psychic to prove they could contact the dead. It was never collected any many phonies were exposed. From the preface, "We do not wish to question anyone's religious beliefs, but we DO wish to take an emphatic stand against all unscientific demonstrations and all spiritistic "hocus pocus" which, as a rule, is designed only to prey upon trusting and believing people, either to extract money from them directly or idirectly..." (p. 8). Dunninger (18982-1975) published many articles and books, some ghost written by his close friend Walter B. Gibson, he also appeared on radio and television.
ED MCBAIN'S MYSTERY BOOK. [ALL PUBLISHED].
New York: Pocket Books, Inc., 1960-61. Small octavo, three issues, all published, pictorial wrappers. Digest sized magazine. Pocket Books capitalized on publishing the McBain novels by entering the digest magazine world. Managing Editor Robert Goodney sought ought well known mystery writers and invited them to submit stories with their famous characters. Authors included McBain, Richard Prather (Shell Scott), Ross MacDonald (Lew Archer), Henry Kane (Peter Chambers), Fredric Brown (Ed and Am Hunter), Robert Bloch, Bruno Fischer, Hampton Stone, Lawrence Block and others. First rate material but did not get beyond the three issue. Cook, Mystery, Detective and Espionage Magazines, pp. 211-213.

FANTASY: THE MAGAZINE OF SCIENCE FICTION. (Three issues, all published).
London: Temple Bar Publishing Co., London, Ltd., 1946-1947. Octavo, three issues, pictorial wrappers, stapled. Digest magazine. All three issues of Britain's first digest size science fiction magazine. Some highlights are first printings of "Last Conflict" by John Russell Fearn and Technical Error" by Arthur C. Clarke (issue one), "Relic" by Eric Frank Russell and "Castaway" by Arthur C. Clarke writing as Charles Willis (issue two), and "The Fires Within" by Arthur C. Clarke writing as "E. G. O'Brien" (issue three). A short lived magazine that could not hang on due to the paper shortages after WWII, reportedly only 6,000 copies were printed and all sold out.
