THE MAD KING.

Chicago: A. C. McClurg & Co., 1926. Octavo, pp. [1-6] 1-365 [366: blank], inserted frontispiece with illustration by J. Allen St. John, original dark blue cloth, front panel stamped in orange and blind, spine panel stamped in orange. First edition. First state with textual errors on pages 12 and 92 (later corrected with cancel leaves). A swashbuckling adventure novel of high romance and intrigue set in the imaginary European kingdom of Lutha. Heins MK-1. A fine copy in very good four-color pictorial dust jacket (reproducing painting by J. Allen St. John on front panel) with some edge wear, general soiling to spine and rear panel, short closed tears, one along upper front flap fold, another at top edge of front panel, both with small internal tape mends, and two very faint, partial blue horizontal lines along top and bottom edges of front and rear panels (offset from an old jacket "protector") which are barely noticeable externally. A nice copy of an uncommon book. (11628). Item #11628
