First British edition. The return of Robur who first appeared in ROBUR LE CONQUERANT (1886); (published in England as THE CLIPPER OF THE CLOUDS, 1887). The translation of this edition differs somewhat from the translation from the first U.S. edition which appeared in 1911 as part of the fifteen volume set - WORKS OF JULES VERNE. According to Taves and Michaluk the British translation (by Cranstoun Metcalfe) is a "more faithful translation." Elements of this novel and it's predecessor are used by Richard Matheson for his screenplay of the film MASTER OF THE WORLD (1961) with Vincent Price as Robur. [Reference: Taves and Michaluk V054].
