First edition. Novelization of the 1931 gangster film directed by William Wellman with James Cagney, Jean Harlow, Ed Woods and Joan Blondell. Glasmon and Bright were originally Chicago newspaper reporters, several other stories of theirs were filmed. Bright worked as a Hollywood screenwriter and was one of 10 founders of the Screen Writers Guild. He was blacklisted in the 1950s. Hubin, p. 330. End papers show some tanning, a fine copy in a very good dust jacket with 25 mm tear to lower front panel with creases and several small chips, 10 mm closed tear to lower front flap edge, 15 mm closed tear to lower left spine edge, some chips at the head of the spine panel, affecting the "E" in THE, slight loss to corner tips and some age darkening to the spine panel.
