A collection of five linked stories featuring Gallegher, an alcoholic inventor, first published in ASTOUNDING SCIENCE FICTION in the 1940s. "Amusing adventures of Gallegher, who is capable of inventing fantastic devices only when he is drunk. He has a robot sidekick. All very silly, but they were regarded as among the best humorous SF of their day." - Pringle, The Ultimate Guide to Science Fiction, second edition (1995), p. 309.
