ANTIQUITIES: SEVEN STORIES.
Seattle: Incunabula, 1993. Octavo, cloth. First edition. One of 77 numbered copies signed by Crowley (number 35). Seven stories of fantasy and science fiction. "Each story here is a small, well-crafted gem, highly allusive yet not obtrusively so, full of emotion-mostly longing and especially wonder, a response fantasy aims for but rarely achieves with the force Crowley is able to supply." - Barron (ed), Fantasy and Horror 7-84.
AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED (ALS). 1 page, dated 24 March 1978, to "Dear Kirby" [McCauley], signed "John." On watermarked onionskin letter-sized paper with autograph return address (Lenox [Mass.]).
Cover letter for a story (not present) that Crowley wants McCauley to submit to THE NEW YORKER (" … my last assault on the barricades of THE NEW YORKER… If effort is any guarantee of worth, and it isn't, this is the best thing I've ever done."). He makes some remarks about the Italian edition of THE DEEP, which he had just received, and asks McCauley to send that Italian publisher a copy of BEASTS. Sparkles of wit enliven what would have been a boilerplate business letter from most other writers. Written in a beautiful calligraphic style. " … [Crowley] is now recognized as one of the shaping minds of the late-20th-century literature of the fantastic." - Clute and Grant, The Encyclopedia of Fantasy, p. 238.

DAEMONOMANIA.
New York, Toronto, London, Sydney, Auckland: Bantam Books, 2000. Octavo, boards. First edition. The third volume in the AEGYPT quartet. "Deeply atmospheric, impressively learned, endlessly suggestive: it won’t mean much, though, to readers who haven’t wrestled with its equally demanding predecessors. Crowley’s work is a taste well worth acquiring, but you have to work at it." Kirkus review, 8/8/00.
THE DEEP.
Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1975. Octavo, boards. First edition. The author's first book. The 'Deep' is the seemingly infinite mysterious universe around them. The novel was welcomed by SF writers and critics alike." - Joe De Bolt, "Outstanding Science Fiction Books: 1927-1979," p. 365. Barron (ed), Fantasy Literature 4A-78.
ENGINE SUMMER.
Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1979. Octavo, boards. First edition. "In far future America returned to agrarian primitivism by disaster, the hero has recorded for future generations the story of his youthful quest for enlightenment. "One of the most unusual and rewarding of all modern sf novels." - Pringle, The Ultimate Guide to Science Fiction, second edition (1995), p. 121. Anatomy of Wonder (1995) 4-122.

LORD BYRON'S NOVEL: THE EVENING LAND.
[New York: HarperCollins Publishers, Inc., 2005]. Octavo, pictorial wrappers. Advance copy (uncorrected proof) of the first edition. "Crowley's premise is a simple one. In the fall of 1813 -- a little more than two years before his wife left him (because of incest, attempted sodomy, "affairs with boys when he was in Greece" or some other impropriety) and he departed from England for good -- Byron claimed he had begun a novel but burned it "because the scene ran into reality." Crowley conjures Byron's lost novel, phoenix-like, from the ashes." - Christopher Benfey, NY Times book review, 6/19/05.
